Jason Moore
for School Board Director

"I am running for Edmonds School Board Director because students, stakeholders and parents deserve better. Current test scores show the district must focus both on academics and in preparation for success in life. With test scores showing less than half of students passing math and science and only 52% passing English, I will look to re-prioritize academics as a cornerstone, so that we can nurture conscientious, competent graduates to be prepared for college, trade school and success in everyday life. I ask for your vote."- Jason Moore

Issues
Prioritizing Safety in Our Schools
A safe and secure environment is essential for students to thrive academically and personally. Parents must have confidence that their children are protected while at school. In response to increasing concerns about school violence, Jason is dedicated to enhancing safety measures by advocating for the reinstatement of School Resource Officers (SROs). These trained professionals will work collaboratively with school staff to foster a secure atmosphere, ensuring students can focus on learning and growth without fear.
Empowering Parental Involvement
Parents play a vital role in their children’s education and well-being, and their voices must be central to decisions affecting their children. This includes choices related to medical treatment, counseling, or social services provided by district staff or partners. As a Director, Jason will champion policies that mandate robust parental involvement and timely notifications, ensuring transparency and empowering families to actively participate in shaping their children’s educational and personal experiences.
Commitment to Fairness in Girls' Sports
Participation in sports fosters valuable life lessons, builds self-esteem, and promotes personal growth for students. However, when the dedication and effort of athletes are undermined by unfair biological advantages, it can have a significant emotional and mental impact, particularly on girls in competitive sports. Jason is committed to advocating for policies that ensure fairness and protect the integrity of girls' sports, prioritizing equitable opportunities for all biological female athletes.
